About
Hi! I'm Michelle
Hi Friends! Michelle here.

I first learned about conscious consumerism in 2009 when I was involved in a college group that raised awareness about modern day slavery. At the time, I understood the importance of purchasing products that don’t hurt people or the environment, but I didn’t know where to find those products, or if I could afford them.

Fast forward to 2013 — my best friend Fay Grant and I decided to do something about it ourselves. We started The Tote Project with the goal of raising awareness about human trafficking and spreading hope that together we can make a difference in the lives of survivors. Along the way we’ve connected with amazing companies that use creative ways to manufacture products ethically. These companies and the teams behind them inspire me, and I hope they inspire you too.

I started this site to provide a reference for people looking to join the conscious capitalism movement, because the more demand increases, the faster it will evolve from a niche to a norm.
